See All ReviewsWent to get breakfast while stay at the hotel, when we arrived there was nobody around but a kiosk. After ordering we waited at a table about a half hour and never seen a person Finally someone came out and said "we are to go orders only" After another 10 minutes we finally got most of our food, and the server disappeared baco into the side room. We called for them to return and still never got them to return Food was ok at best sausage patty was dry and over cooked, scrambled eggs are this giant load and cooked in a white liquid and tasted like they were only yolks
Dear Management, I am writing to formally share a disappointing experience I had at Red Gill Bistro in Jacksonville located at 4660 Salisbury Rd on the night before Valentine’s day. At 7:17 PM, I placed a to-go order for the Carrot Persuasion Cake using the in-restaurant kiosk. I was aware the restaurant was hosting a private event and expected a reasonable wait. However, after more than 30 minutes with no update, I politely inquired about the status of my order. The response I received was unexpectedly dismissive. A member of the kitchen staff stated he had 100 people to serve and several orders ahead of mine, speaking in a tone that suggested my inquiry was inappropriate. Rather than offering a timeframe or courtesy explanation, he indicated he would simply refund my order. When the refund was processed, I was initially given $14.26, despite my receipt reflecting $17.26. Upon calmly presenting the receipt, I was met with a cold and accusatory explanation about portal fees. While the full amount was ultimately returned, the interaction was unnecessarily unpleasant and unprofessional. I understand that busy nights can create pressure. What should never be compromised, however, is basic courtesy and professionalism. This situation escalated over a simple slice of cake — not because of the wait itself, but because of how the interaction was handled. I believe strongly that customer service is revealed most clearly during high-volume moments. Unfortunately, this experience has caused me to reconsider returning. I hope this feedback is received in the constructive spirit in which it is intended. Sincerely, Shadrick Walker
Staying next door at the Wyndham, we went to The Red Gill Bistro for dinner. It was delicious! My husband ordered the brisket dinner with collard greens and cole slaw. I ordered the fried fish dinner with collard greens and Mac and cheese. They were both excellent! The small staff were welcoming and friendly. A unique place. Would definitely recommend.
